The father of Victor Frankenstein, and the former baron. He hires Dr. Krempe to tutor his son during his youth, leading to their strong working relationship through the years. Shortly after his son goes to university, Hans dies in a tragic hunting accident, but Victor doesn't return until after he completes his studies, and even then he only does so to conduct his experiments.
