A childhood friend, and eventual fiancé of Victor Frankenstein. She lost contact with him when he went to university as he stopped responding to her letters, but when returns to conduct his experiments when invited to do so by their mutual friend Henry. She eventually becomes his fiancé, and Dr. Krempe attempts to convince her to leave without revealing the experiments to her, but she refuses. On the eve of their wedding, she is taken hostage by the creature, and is killed by Victor while attempting to shoot the creature.
