Sonic is a curious case, since he wasn't originally intended to get involved in the adventure and all this tournament stuff. Out of nowhere, he and his partner Tails are transported to another universe. When Mario sees them, it's clear they're from another universe, one known as 1960-S. Just like in Spider-Verse, Sonic glitches every 5 minutes until, if the day ends, he can disappear forever.
