During the Star Festival, Bowser attacks with an airship fleet, lifts Princess Peach's castle into space, and traps her. Mario is blasted away but lands on a small planet, where he meets Rosalina, the protector of the Cosmos and the Comet Observatory. Rosalina provides Mario with a Luma to help him traverse the galaxy to recover stolen Grand Stars.
