In a prehistoric universe born of blood and shadow, The Succession of Stars follows the violent transition of power that forged the cosmos. Before humanity or Olympus ever existed, the sky god Uranus rules creation with absolute, suffocating control, driven by a crippling paranoia of his own monstrous offspring. When his son Cronus orchestrates his bloody downfall, the cycle of tyranny repeats. Warned by a prophecy that one of his own children will overthrow him, King Cronus resorts to a regime of divine cannibalism, systematically swallowing each newborn child birthed by his grieving Queen, Rhea: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon.Pushed to absolute desperation, Rhea orchestrates a monumental cosmic deception to save her final child. Fleeing into the black depths of Crete, she delivers Zeus in secret and feeds Cronus a stone wrapped in baby garments. Raised in darkness by his grandmother Gaia, an adult Zeus emerges from exile not as a polished king, but as a feral, cunning revolutionary. Infiltrating the monolith of Mount Othrys, he forces Cronus to vomit up his fully grown, heavily traumatized siblings. Together, they descend to the deepest vaults of Tartarus to free the Cyclopes, who forge Zeus's ultimate weapon: the Thunderbolt. What follows is the Titanomachy—a brutal, ten-year war that rips the fabric of reality apart. To tip the scales, Zeus releases the chaotic, multi-limbed Hundred-Handers, launching an apocalyptic assault that throws the old Titans into the abyss. Yet, a final threat remains in Typhon, a colossal volcanic engine of destruction unleashed by the Earth itself. Defeating the beast secures Zeus's election as King, but the cycle of succession threatens him next through his tactical wife, Metis. In a chilling final choice to preserve his eternal rule, Zeus swallows a pregnant Metis entirely, freezing the cosmic cycle in permanent, silent subjugation.
