Age 39, a superhuman private investigator and old classmate of Peter Parker, who briefly worked as the superheroine Jewel before falling under the mind control of the Purple Man, Kevin Kilgrave, and becoming his slave. Although Jessica was freed from the Purple Man’s control with help from the Avengers, Jessica traded in her costume and became head of Alias Investigations to cope with the trauma she endured. After marrying Luke Cage and having a child with him, Jessica began rediscovering her superhero side and decided to join the Defenders to make a safer world for her daughter, Danielle.
