Age 18, a student of Empire State University recruited by the obscure Golden Age hero Black Marvel to join his team of young heroes known as the Slingers. Cassie is the goth daughter of a pair of rich socialites who enjoyed looking different from others, but when she was recruited into the Slingers and given the Dusk costume by Black Marvel, a near-death experience caused Cassie to gain control over the Darkforce, in addition to discovering powers of teleportation, clairvoyance, and manipulating shadows.
