Deceased at Age ???, a deceased Kree warrior who served as the first individual to be called Captain Marvel and a mentor to Carol Danvers. Originally sent to Earth by the Kree to spy on humans and declare whether they could be a threat to the Kree Empire, Mar-Vell took on the identity of Walter Lawson to hide his true nature and eventually became a superhero in the process. After Carol Danvers gained her powers and began serving as Ms. Marvel, Mar-Vell discovered that he has contracted cancer. But rather than giving into despair or trying to find a cure, Mar-Vell spent his final moments fighting for Earth during the Kree-Skrull War, sacrificing himself to protect Carol from the Supreme Intelligence and naming her the new Captain Marvel in his place.
