The story follows Will Archer, a washed-up true crime writer desperate for inspiration and redemption after his last book flopped. Upon hearing rumors of Mercer House and its grisly past, Will moves into the mansion with his teenage daughter, Jenna, in the hopes of writing the book that will resurrect his career. What he doesn’t know is that the mansion harbors more than just bad memories—it has a pulse. And it's alive. Soon, Will and Jenna begin experiencing strange phenomena: disembodied voices, echoes of past events replaying in real time, and terrifying visions that blur the line between reality and madness. Will starts uncovering layers of horror involving the house’s previous residents, a family murdered under mysterious circumstances in the 1920s. Meanwhile, Jenna forms an unsettling connection to a boy she encounters in the house, who may or may not exist. As Will delves deeper into the dark history of the mansion, he realizes that every past resident met a tragic fate, and their tortured souls remain trapped in the walls, reliving their violent deaths over and over again. The house, it turns out, isn’t just haunted—it’s a living entity that feeds off the pain and suffering of its inhabitants, warping reality and driving them to commit unspeakable acts.
