Dr. Robotnik, in his imprisonment, made a deal with Naugus that if he releases him, Naugus can destroy Mobiu, Sonic will be gone, and when it's over, they can both rule the planet unmatched, undefeated, and unstoppable. Being the trickster and deceiver that he is, he traps Naugus in the Void when he thinks he destroyed Sonic. Now he's left with only Snively and his minions to rule the world.
