Jeffrey Wright (born December 7, 1965) is an American actor. His first starring film role was as Jean-Michel Basquiat in Basquiat (1996). His other notable films include Syriana (2005), Lady in the Water (2006), Cadillac Records (2008), The Ides of March (2011), and Rustin (2023). He has also acted in the Wes Anderson films The French Dispatch (2021), Asteroid City (2023) and The Phoenician Scheme (2025), and has played Peoples Hernandez in Shaft (2000), Felix Leiter in the James Bond films Casino Royale (2006), Quantum of Solace (2008), and No Time to Die (2021), Beetee Latier in The Hunger Games films, and Jim Gordon in The Batman (2022). He received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in American Fiction (2023).

The Shopping List is a 2025 American psychological horror film written, co-produced, and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, based on the short horror game of the same name, and starring Dove Cameron, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ryan Gosling, Josh Hartnett, Courtney Cox, Andy Serkis, Jeffery Wright, and Michael Shannon. In the film, a woman named Claire moves into a town and goes shopping at night for supplies and food, only to come face to face with evil in its most sinister form and to understand that she is being followed. As the film progresses, Claire realizes to her horror that she must later confront her unknown fear after she concludes that she is the primary target of her stalker. The Shopping List was released in theaters on October 24th, 2025; it received generally positive reviews, with praise for Cameron, Howard, and Shannon's performances and Shyamalan's screenplay and direction, as well as its atmosphere and respect to the source material. The film was massive sleeper hit, grossing $471 million worldwide. A sequel is in development with Cameron, Howard and Shannon set to reprise their roles.
