Jack Torrance, a struggling writer and recovering alcoholic, accepts a job as winter caretaker of the isolated Overlook Hotel in the Colorado mountains. He brings his wife Wendy and psychic son Danny, hoping the solitude will help him finish his novel and stay sober. As winter traps them inside, the hotel's malevolent supernatural forces awaken. Danny's terrifying psychic abilities—his "shining"—intensify as he communes with the hotel's vengeful ghosts. Jack's fragile sanity crumbles under the building's influence, transforming him into a dangerous threat to his family. Wendy must protect Danny while confronting both the hotel's dark history and her husband's descent into madness. A chilling exploration of isolation, addiction, and the supernatural, where the line between psychological breakdown and genuine haunting blurs into terrifying ambiguity.
