Elvis Apollis and Jesus De La Vega arrive with Annabeth and Violetta in London, where Annabeth is to present her new detective book during a gala evening at the Royal History Museum. The main attraction of the exhibition is seven rare pocket watches that belong to the last surviving members of a secret society of British industrialists. One of the owners is found murdered in a locked office and his watch stops at the exact time of death, Elvis takes on the investigation. Shortly afterwards, the remaining six owners receive an anonymous message: "When the last watch stops, there will be none left." Soon another attack occurs and it becomes clear that the killer is hunting down all the owners one by one. However, each of them is hiding something and the evidence after each murder always points to someone else in the group. Elvis gradually discovers that there was another eighth watch thirty years ago. Its owner, Samuel Crowley, died shortly after discovering that the other members of the society had embezzled a huge amount of money together. His death was ruled an accident and the eighth watch was erased. The killer also attempts to attack Annabeth and Violetta, fearing they may have seen something during the gala. In old police records, Elvis discovers that Samuel Crowley had a young son who disappeared after his father's death and later took on his mother's last name. He also discovers that one of the men present is not the true heir of the original member of the society. The true heir died several years ago and someone else has taken over his identity. Elvis eventually pieces together an old photo of Crowley's son, the records, and the statements. He reveals that the non-original owner of the watch is Crowley's son, who infiltrated the society to kill them all. When the killer attempts to eliminate the last surviving member of the society and escape from the museum, Elvis and Jesus stop him after a chase.
