Monique Grant is Evelyn Hugo's biographer and a journalist best known for her piece on the right to die. Monique Grant is the first character we are introduced to, she is a reporter who is contacted by Evelyn Hugo to write her biography. Monique starts as a tame and meek girl who is not assertive. Through the book we see Evelyn rub off on Monique as she becomes more assertive in her job and relationship. With Evelyn's help and influence, Monique is able to get a promotion in her job and finally leave her ex. The most shocking moment of the book is when Evelyn reveals her father died in a car crash with his lover Harry Cameron.
