15-year-old twins Josh and Sophie Newman are working their regular day jobs in San Francisco, California when they just so happen to be the accidental witnesses of a magical battle, and from then on, their lives are forever changed. Nicholas Flamel, formerly known to Josh and Sophie as humble bookshop owner Nick Fleming, harbors the two twins from Dr. John Dee's wrath, since Dee leaves no witnesses. The twins quickly become immersed in an all-new magical world, including Dee's plan to gather the last two pages of the Book of Abraham the Mage and bring back the world-destroying Dark Elders, the very pages that Josh managed to rip from the Book. What will become of the twins and Flamel? How will they fend off such a powerful evil?
