John Michael Turturro (born February 28, 1957) is an Italian-American businessman, entrepreneur, actor, writer and filmmaker, known for his association with the independent film movement. He has appeared in over sixty feature films and has worked frequently with the Coen brothers, Adam Sandler and Spike Lee. He began his acting career on-screen in the early 1980s, and received early critical recognition with the independent film Five Corners (1987). Turturro's mainstream breakthrough came with Lee's Do the Right Thing (1989) and the Coens' Miller's Crossing (1990) and Barton Fink (1991), for which he won the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival. His subsequent roles included Herb Stempel in Quiz Show (1994), Jesus Quintana in The Big Lebowski (1998) and The Jesus Rolls (2020), Pete Hogwallop in O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), Seymour Simmons in the Transformers film series and is set to play Carmine Falcone in The Batman. In 2016, in a lead role, he portrayed a lawyer in the HBO miniseries The Night Of and had a recurring role in the miniseries The Plot Against America in 2020. An Emmy Award winner, Turturro has also been nominated for four Screen Actors Guild Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and four Independent Spirit Awards. He directed Mac (1992), which won the Golden Camera Award at the Cannes Film Festival, Illuminata (1998), and Romance and Cigarettes (2005). We meet members of the Rinaldi family, led by Alfredo. In hotel St. Croix Tony Rinaldi protects Lauren from Edward Monetti. Monetti is killed, resulting in a declaration of war on Rinaldi's family, as Monetti was a respected member of Tadeuccis. Both Alfredo and Gino Taddeucci call the family together and prepare for underworld war. Unwittingly, Joe Marchegiano, a former boxer, gets involved, loses his temper and kills his boss, Pietro Barbella, who is Taddeucci and whose death is attributed to the Rinaldis by Gino. Luigi Morello, Bernie Rinaldi and Sal Firpo traditionally dine at Ginetta's, they will be targeted by Taddeucci's men led by Frankie Luciano. The restaurant is destroyed and good old Firpo is dead. This is learned by his son Mario, who returns from the army and is ready to become 1 of the 10 capos of the Rinaldi family and avenge father's death. Street boss Paulie Cabrini, one of Rinaldi's most senior figures, takes him under the wing. Together with the men led by his father are sent on job in Chinatown, where the car dealer Fabrizio Costilla, under the protection of Rinaldis, is attacked by Taddeucci, many men die, Mario impresses both Cabrini and Alfredo. The bomb in taddeucci's underboss's car is revenge for Firpo and the end for Totti. Many skirmishes ensue and two of Rinaldi's capos, Leo Buonarroti and Simon Paganini, are injured. The good old consigliere Renato "Baron" Barone, feels old and thinks about retirement and peace. Costilla is killed. Series 1 ends
