Blue Sargent comes from a family of psychics, but she herself has no supernatural abilities—until she sees the spirit of a wealthy private school student named Gansey, which means he will die within the year. Blue is drawn into Gansey's world and his obsession with finding Glendower, a legendary Welsh king rumored to be sleeping beneath the mountains of Virginia. Alongside Gansey are his friends from Aglionby Academy: the charming Ronan, the intellectual Adam, and the mysterious Noah. As Blue becomes entangled with the Raven Boys, she discovers that her psychic abilities are real but work differently than expected—her power amplifies others' abilities. Together, the group embarks on a dangerous quest through ley lines and supernatural mysteries, uncovering dark secrets about their town, their families, and themselves. The story weaves romance, friendship, and the supernatural into a compelling narrative about finding your place in the world and the lengths people will go for those they love. Blue must navigate her growing feelings for Gansey while confronting the prophecy that one of them will die.
