The show explored the lives of a dysfunctional family known as the Prouds. Oscar (the father) is a self-proclaimed (and cheapskate) businessman who sells his own homemade snacks (that are disgusting), Trudy (the mother) is a veterinarian who loves her family all the same, Suga Mama (the grandmother) is a nasty woman who disrespects her own son (Oscar) but loves her granddaughter (Penny), baby twins Bebe and Cece can cause cartoon-like mischief, and Penny (the daughter) tries to be like an ordinary girl and not let peer pressure and family drama get the better of her. In this story, while suffering high school, Penny and her friends plan to audition for a music video, but Oscar won't allow it (not only because he's cheap, but also because he's overprotective).
