For more than four decades, Dave Meltzer has watched professional wrestling from the outside—and changed it from within. From the mimeographed beginnings of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter to becoming one of the most influential and controversial voices in the industry, The Observer follows Meltzer’s obsessive pursuit of truth, credibility, and the perfect match. As wrestling evolves from smoke-filled arenas to global spectacle, his words begin to shape reputations, careers, and entire generations of fans. But the closer he gets to the business he documents, the harder it becomes to remain only an observer. A story about obsession, journalism, influence, and the strange power of one man’s opinion in a world built on illusion.
