A bright spot for the family and their children is that of the eccentric but very talented clockmaker, Drosselmer , a family friend with a long history of amazing and inspiring tales of seeing the world. Clara and her brother, Frtiz adore him and he often spoils them with gifts from his travels aboard, their family is very op and friendly but a bit conservative in wanting to maintain appearance and being able to maintain their place in society. This often leads to Clara and her father to clash as she wants to follow her heart while her father wants her to pursue a more grounded and safe lifestyle that is good for her and the welfare of their families. This in turn caused a rift between the two. Later, the nutcracker is revealed and the others think it odd but harmless while Fritz trying to get a nut to be opened, beaks the poor toy by accident, Clara is not upset as she knows it was an accident, Fritz apologized and said he was very sorry about it, The family told the children to calm down and it would be fixed in the morning,
