The New Gods are ancient aliens and successors of the old gods. They live on completely different planets called New Genesis, where the good and wise gods live, and on the planet Apokolips, where the evil and selfish gods live. In New Genesis, the gods are led by Hightfather who protects a power called the life equation. A powerful ruler of the planet Apokolips named Darkseid is trying to find the opposite of a life equation called an anti-life equation that would control every thinking being in the multiverse. His son Orion, who lives in New Genesis and does not know that he is the son of Darkseid, is sent on a dangerous adventure to prevent Darkseid from finding the equation.
