Evie Frye and her dog Lady during the late Victorian and early Edwardian eras which explores that even a retired Master Assassin can find companionship and protection in a friend who is "clever and affectionate" yet willing to "growl off" those who threaten the peace of London. Lady is trained not only as a pet but as a companion who understands the "Language of the Creed." She is intelligent and affectionate, frequently seen with street urchins associated with Clara O'Dea. Evie retires from active, daily assassination to a life of strategic mentoring. Feeling lonely in the sprawling city, she adopts a rescued Saint Bernard puppy, naming her Lady (named after Evie, who was often called "Lady Frye") when she became a companion, protector, loyal pet, mascot of the Rooks, Lady became both friendly and affectionate to children/allies, but viciously hostile towards remaining Templar/Blighter gangs. Lady is fiercely protective of her owner Evie. In the story, she barks as she acts as a silent sentry. During a night attack on a hidden Rooks cache by Templar agents, Lady is shown sneaking in shadows (cleverness) and, when cornered, unleashing ferocious, calculated attacks on armed thugs (mauling them), saving a courier without destroying the intel.
