A small mistake in the spell causes Nightmare to break free back into the physical world and now Nightmare begins his plan to unleash the Curse of Eternal Night, shrouding the world in perpetual darkness so he can dominate everyone’s dreams without end. Strange realizes he must enact the ancient spell of the Midnight Sun, a ritual that requires 5 unique individuals to pull it off. He travels to X-Mansion where he recruits Wolverine and Gambit who at first are skeptical but eventually agree to help. Wolverine mentions he knows where to find Johnny Blaze, a former Ghost Rider now living in self-imposed exile. The group finds Johnny Blaze in a rundown, burnt-out apartment, broken and unable to transform into Ghost Rider. Strange, realizing the curse has weakened Johnny, gives him an armored suit resembling his Ghost Rider form. Now back in the fight, Johnny agrees to join them. The next stop is Blade, the legendary vampire hunter. The team finds Blade in the midst of an intense battle with Dracula. Wolverine and Blade team up to drive Dracula back, but Blade is initially reluctant to join Strange’s mission. Just then Nightmare traps them in Dracula's castle and the final fight has begun.
