Carrie-Anne Moss (born August 21, 1967) is a Canadian actress. After early roles on television, she rose to international prominence for her role of Trinity in The Matrix franchise. She has starred in Memento (2000) for which she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female, Red Planet (2000), Chocolat (2000), Fido (2006), Snow Cake (2006) for which she won the Genie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, Disturbia (2007), Unthinkable (2010), Silent Hill: Revelation (2012), and Pompeii (2014). She also portrayed Jeri Hogarth in several television series produced by Marvel Television for Netflix, most notably Jessica Jones (2015–2019).

At the end of The Matrix Revolutions, and after the defeat of Smith, the Sentinels do what they can to heal the injured Neo and Trinity. Deus Ex Machina follows through on their promise and leaves Zion in peace. Deus Ex Machina knew that if he killed The One it would make him a martyr. Instead, it was calculated that it would be better to allow him to live again in a weakened state. No longer mortally injured, Neo and Trinity await a rescue team. As they await rescue, Neo feels compelled to steal away one of the fetuses developing in the fetus fields. Despite, everyone's reluctance, they free the baby (that looks be about 1 year old) and escape away with her back to Zion. Although the Architect accepts defeat, and people are free to leave the Matrix, many, if not most do not and Zion does not have the resources to free everyone. Knowing this, the Sentinels and the Architect quietly making the Matrix harder for people to leave as Zion struggles to rebuild and struggles to acquire the necessary resources to free people from the Matrix.
