Sebastián Silva (born April 9, 1979) is a highly acclaimed Chilean filmmaker, actor, and musician whose work is defined by its dark humor, social commentary, and exploration of uncomfortable human dynamics. He rose to international prominence with his second feature, The Maid (La Nana, 2009), which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival and earned a Golden Globe nomination. Silva is known for his unique collaborations with indie actors like Michael Cera in films such as Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus (2013) and Magic Magic (2013). A multidisciplinary artist, he is also a former member of the Chilean hip-hop group CHC and has exhibited his paintings in galleries across New York and Mexico City.
