Great Ak is the Master Woodsman of the world, ruler of the forests, orchards, and groves. He is one of three beings to whom all other immortals are subjected to, the others being Kern the Master Husbandman and Bo the Master Mariner where all three see everything and know more than the sons of men. Great Ak is one of Santa Claus's protectors and mentors who encourages him to live among his own kind and not shy away from them by finding his place in the human world.
