Set in a world that seems to have forgotten the values of simplicity, justice and solidarity, "The Last Idealist" narrates the life and legacy of José "Pepe" Mujica, from his days as a guerrilla in the National Liberation Movement-Tupamaros , through his years in prison, to his historic presidency in Uruguay and his subsequent life as a global symbol of humility and resistance. The film explores the contradictions of leading with austerity in a world ruled by consumerism, while delving into personal relationships and the darkest moments of his life.
