The year is 1945 and World War 2 is in full swing. President Roosevelt has heard rumors that Hitler is developing a powerful weapon and recruits a team of men and women to stop him. Jay Garrick, a young scientist is working on a experiment with water vapors and electricity which goes wrong and gains super speed. He is recruited along with Alan Scott who was saved by a Magical Lantern from a train wreck and uses its power for good. Carter Hall, an archaeologist discovers he has a past life as a prince of Egypt, and was the Hawkman who joins the team reluctantly after being promised more information about his past. Rex Tyler is in the making of a start up chemical company called TylerCo, and creates a miracle drug which can grant anyone superpowers for one hour and he uses it to become the hero Hourman and is given a grant if he joins. Ted Grant, the boxer becomes a vigilante after being framed for murdering one of his rivals, joins the team after his charges of murder gets dropped. Hitler found a powerful weapon, one which could be used to win Germany the war in a few months, which the Justice Society must work together to stop him from using it.
