During the height of World War II, frail but determined Steve Rogers is transformed into the world’s first super-soldier by Dr. Abraham Erskine, Howard Stark, and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s director, battle-hardened veteran Nick Fury. After Erskine is assassinated by a HYDRA agent, Steve joins Fury and Soviet S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Claire Voyant — the mysterious Black Widow — on a mission to Wakanda, where they ally with King Azzuri, the Black Panther, to resist HYDRA’s growing influence. Returning to New York, the Allies form the Invaders, adding Peggy Carter as their field commander and Howard Stark, donning his experimental armored suit as Iron Man. Together they launch a daring raid on Paris to liberate prisoners and uncover HYDRA’s terrifying plan to drop a vibranium-powered nuclear warhead on New York. In the final battle, Captain America confronts the Red Skull, Baron Zemo, and Baron Strucker, ultimately sacrificing himself by steering the warhead into the Arctic, saving millions at the cost of his own life. With Steve gone and the war eventually won, the Invaders disband — Peggy mourning his loss, Howard refining his inventions, Claire vanishing into shadows, Azzuri retreating to Wakanda, and Fury vowing that one day, heroes will rise again — cementing Captain America as a legend whose sacrifice ensures freedom’s survival.
