Miss Giddens is delighted to have been hired as a governess by a wealthy businessman. She will have to take care of her grandchildren, Flora and Miles, who are orphans of both parents. Arriving in the country villa of the London gentleman, she will discover, however, that two employees who died not long ago in unclear circumstances, the gardener Peter Quint and the young governess Miss Jessel, had entered into a relationship in which unfortunately they had also involved the children. The woman also comes to think that the siblings, particularly Miles, are possessed by the deceased couple since the child was even expelled from the boarding school he was in precisely because of his negative conduct, although he naturally persists in denying it. The governess will try in every way to free them from these presences also with the precious help of Mrs. Grose, the elderly housekeeper.
