Nicholas Hammond revealed that there were plans in place to develop a follow-up feature film to the 1970's superhero TV series The Amazing Spider-Man. The basic gist of the reunion film was that it would also be a crossover with another Marvel television adaptation, The Incredible Hulk, with Hammond reprising his role as Peter Parker and appearing in the black Spider-Man suit from The Alien Costume Saga and Secret Wars. A deal was arranged between Universal Pictures and Columbia Pictures to co-produce the project. Bill Bixby was hired to direct, in addition to reprising his role as David Banner. Alas, Universal eventually cancelled the project. Hammond stated he was told that Lou Ferrigno was unavailable to reprise his role as the Hulk because he was in Italy filming the Cannon schlockbuster Hercules.
