Peter Stormare (August 27, 1953) was born in Arbrå, Gävleborgs län, Sweden. He is a Swedish film, stage, voice and television actor as well as a theatrical director, playwright and musician. He is perhaps best known for his roles as John Abruzzi in Prison Break and as Gaear Grimsrud, one of the two kidnappers in Fargo. Peter Stormare began his acting career at the Royal National Theatre of Sweden, performing for eleven years. In 1990 he became the Associate Artistic Director at the Tokyo Globe Theatre and directed productions of many Shakespeare plays, including "Hamlet". In 1993 he moved to New York, where he appeared in English productions. He continues to work in both the United States and his his homeland of Sweden. He resides in Los Angeles, California, USA, with his wife.

The Hunt for the Hydra is a 2025 science fiction action film and the fifth installment in the Sea Monsters Universe. Like the first and the fourth installments, it was directed by Lexi Alexander and produced by Zack Snyder, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Gore Verbinski from a screenplay by Alexander and Bruckheimer, and is a direct sequel to The Terrors of the Lusca, being released ten months after that film. The film stars an ensemble cast including Sasha Calle, Ruby Rose, Hailee Steinfeld, Anthony Ramos, Katherine Waterston, Nick Adams, Garrett Hedlund, Michael Shannon, Daniel Kaluuya, Peter Stormare, and Salma Hayek. Its story follows Lucía and Sienna as they must hunt down a six-headed snake for the sake of innocent civilians, as well as their child. The Hunt for the Hydra opened in theaters on December 23rd, 2025; like the first and the fourth films, it received universal acclaim, with praise for the action sequences, performances (particularly Calle and Rose), visual effects, score, and emotional weight. It was also a financial success like its predecessors, grossing $1.5 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of the Sea Monsters Universe and the second highest-grossing film of 2025. A sequel is in development.
