General John McNamara works for a secret branch of the military known as PEIP, they call it Peep. It stands for paranormal, extraterrestrial, interdimensional phenomana. They handle the eldritch horrors that come from the Black and White throughout the Hatchetfield series. He's forged a strong moral compass and appreciation for life throughput his career at PEIP as he gained a deeper understanding of the cosmos and his place in it. John was mentored by Wilbur Cross with when he came in contact with the Black and White devoted himself to the Lords in Black. This memory still haunts John. He makes an attempt to save Paul and Emma late in the show but ultimately fails.
