A tale of two. The rise and fall of Sinestro with the glimmer of hope found in a young Hal Jordan. Obsessed with order and logic over emotion, Thaal Sinestro is chosen to be a Green Lantern after helping a stranger wars off an invading alien race. But while Sinestro quickly rises in the ranks, even taking on a hothead human apprentice named Hal Jordan, it becomes clear that his ideologies run counter to the mission of the Guardians and the Lantern Corps. When he and his partner, Abin Sur, uncover prophecy about a "chosen one" among them who will cause great calamity, Sinestro takes it upon himself to eliminate any perceived threats to order that could enact the prophecy. This rubs up against the Guardians, and when he attacks them and tries to take over, killing Abin Sur in the process, Hal Jordan fights back and subdues his mentor. Ganthet, the last remaining Guardian, banishes him to his home world without his ring and promotes Hal to take his place.
