Keystone City teenager Wally West struggles to live up to the expectations of his father, police officer Joe West, who sees the Flash as a menace. Wally adjusts to prep school, and visits his uncle Daniel West, who takes him to an abandoned subway station to paint graffiti. Miles is struck by lightning and gains superspeed similar to the Flash. Returning to the station, Wally discovers a collider built by Captain Cold, who hopes to access parallel universes to bring back his late sister, whose death he blames on the Flash. Wally watches as the Flash attempts to disable the collider while fighting Captain Cold's henchmen, Gorilla Grodd and the Reverse Flash. The Flash saves Wally, but Grodd shoves the Flash into the collider, causing an explosion that kills Grodd and severely wounds the Flash. The Flash gives Wally a USB flash drive designed to disable the collider, warning that the machine could destroy the city if reactivated. After watching in horror as Cold kills the Flash, Wally flees with Reverse-Flash in pursuit, eventually getting away from him.
