Barry Allen is a forensic scientist whose mother was murdered when he was a child. He spent years searching for the killer, with the only clue being that it was a yellow blur. During an artificial lightning storm, he is struck by a bolt of lightning, which makes him realize he has always sought to become like the extraordinary he's always been looking for.
