Born and raised in Harlem, New York, Sam had a strong sense of justice instilled in him from an early age. After serving in the United States Air Force as a pararescueman, he became disillusioned with the limitations of traditional military tactics in addressing social issues. One fateful encounter changed the course of Sam's life when he crossed paths with Captain America, Steve Rogers. Impressed by Sam's courage and moral compass, Captain America enlisted him as a valuable ally and bestowed upon him the mantle of Falcon. Equipped with a state-of-the-art winged suit and a technological arsenal, Sam embraced his new role as a superhero and became an integral member of the Avengers.
