Robert Douglas Thomas Pattinson (born May 13, 1986) is an English actor. Noted for his versatile roles in both big-budget and independent films, Pattinson has been ranked among the world's highest-paid actors. After starting to act in a London theatre club at age 15, Pattinson began his film career by playing Cedric Diggory in the fantasy film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). He gained worldwide recognition for portraying Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga film series (2008–2012), which grossed over $3.3 billion worldwide. After starring in the romantic dramas Remember Me (2010) and Water for Elephants (2011), Pattinson received critical acclaim for his performances in independent films from auteur directors. As the corrupt Mayor of New York, Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) establishes a task force to eliminate vigilantes. Daredevil assembles a team of heroes and anti-heroes, "The Defenders," to take him down. In a city under martial law, Kingpin secretly orders hits on civilians, using fake police to carry out his plans. The Defenders initially clash with the task force, but are caught off guard by Mysterio, a new Kingpin ally. After a crushing defeat, the Defenders regroup and train to take on Mysterio again. In a fierce battle, they emerge victorious, defeating Mysterio. With Kingpin in hiding, the Defenders continue to protect civilians, determined to bring the corrupt mayor to justice and restore order to New York. The fight is far from over, but the Defenders are ready for the challenge.
