Clark after seeing that his good friend Bruce aka Batman, ''died'' after sacrificing himself for gotham and his loved ones, felt sad about his death, and thought at night if he had done something about it, he thought that maybe Bruce would have lived but both John's death and ''Brcue'' made him sad. But seeing that sadly there was no chance, he decided to go ahead and still live with his family, Clark was happy that he was going to be a father and he was nervous when his son was born, but his life would change when Braniac released Doomsday.
