Gemma Chan (born 29 November 1982) is an English actress. A Worcester College, Oxford graduate, Chan began acting in the late 2000s, making her film debut in 2009. She rose to attention with her leading role in the Channel 4 science fiction series Humans (2015–2018). She gained prominence with her starring roles in Crazy Rich Asians and as Elizabeth Hardwick in Mary Queen of Scots (both 2018). She next starred in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Captain Marvel (2019) and Eternals (2021), portraying Minn-Erva and Sersi, respectively. She also had a voice role in the Disney animated film Raya and the Last Dragon (2021). She appeared in Olivia Wilde's psychological thriller Don't Worry Darling (2022) and Gareth Edwards' science fiction film The Creator (2023). Offscreen, Chan has been labelled a fashion icon. Twelve years after Batman's apparent death, crime in Gotham City is at an all time high even though John Blake patrols the streets as Robin, mentored by Julia Pennyworth who's father Alfred died from a stroke a year prior. When Deathstroke, a ruthless mercenary working with the League Of Shadows, begins a murderous rampage throughout Gotham, Blake calls in Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle for help. Meanwhile, deformed crime boss Oswald Cobblepot has taken over the criminal underworld, reshaping organized crime in his image and launching a scheme to wipe out the poor and needy to save the rich money. Seeing similarities in their respective goals, Oswald teams up with Deathstroke to destroy Batman, Robin, and Catwoman, take over Gotham City, and enslave it's population. In their biggest battle yet, the heroes must take down Deathstroke and Penguin before it's too late. The stakes are higher than they've ever been before!
