In a ruthless medieval kingdom ruled by the merciless King Aldren, young Edrik loses his entire family when the king’s forces murder his father Thomas, mother Lyra, and brother Lucas. Years later, Edrik’s life changes forever when he accidentally discovers an ancient magical book that has been sought by Aldren for years. The book grants Edrik extraordinary powers, but its darker pages contain forbidden magic that slowly corrupts anyone who uses it. As Aldren sends his army, led by the legendary Sir Kaeron and Captain Roderic, to recover the book and kill Edrik, a mysterious new figure begins to emerge: Mister Paradox. Driven by revenge and protected by his childhood love, Princess Eliana, Edrik wages war against the king and becomes more powerful with every battle. But the more he embraces the book’s dark magic, the more he loses the humanity that Eliana once loved. Meanwhile, King Aldren’s trusted adviser Lord Varrek secretly seeks the book for himself and plots against both Edrik and Sir Kaeron. As Edrik finally confronts the king, he must decide whether defeating Aldren is worth becoming the very evil he swore to destroy. In the end, Edrik wins the battle—but realizing that Mister Paradox may eventually consume him completely, he leaves behind the kingdom and everyone he loves, disappearing into the unknown with the cursed book.
