Paul Thomas King (born July 1978) is an English screenwriter and director. He works in television, film and theatre and specialises in comedy. He directed all 20 episodes of the surreal comedy series The Mighty Boosh (2004–2007), and in 2005 he earned a British Academy Television Award nomination for Best New Director. His work on the family comedy films Paddington (2014) and its 2017 sequel earned him British Academy Film Award nominations for Best British Film and Best Adapted Screenplay. In 2023, he directed and co-wrote Wonka, a film which serves as a backstory to the literary character Willy Wonka and explores his early days as a chocolatier. Billy Batson has had many superhero adventures, but as he himself has noticed, there can always be surprises even for a superhero. When curiously sought out by Sasha Bordeaux, the boy finds out why when he realizes that a new enemy seems to have powers similar to his own, resulting in a wave of destruction before heading towards the Kahndaq region. In this chaotic scenario, Shazam realizes that perhaps the only way to defeat this new evil is precisely with the help of an old adversary: Black Adam. 'The Champions of Shazam!' it is the 39th project in that universe, as well as the 4th and final installment of the Shazam franchise. The film still starts the so-called Phase 5, which has a great emphasis on new and already known teams.
