The story follows Buddy Carson, a cursed drifter suffering from a supernatural and contagious black cancer. To survive, he must spread this deadly infection to others, leaving a trail of devastation through small American towns. Buddy then arrives in the small town of Easton, New Hampshire, and Sheriff Jim Lopez must deal with the situation and gather reinforcements to contain the wave of disease that is ravaging the town.
