The film received universal acclaim, with praise for the visuals, Johnson's direction, the action sequences, Hans Zimmer's musical score, and Armstrong's performance. It was widely considered to be the best of the series, as it was noted for Charley's newfound life as a bounty hunter. A sequel entitled The Bounty of Ryder Part IV: Road of Redemption was released many months later as a back-to-back follow-up.
