James Allen Mangold (born December 16, 1963) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. Noted for his versatility in tackling a range of genres, Mangold made his debut as a film director with Heavy (1995) and gained recognition for the films Cop Land (1997), Girl, Interrupted (1999), Identity (2003), Walk the Line (2005), 3:10 to Yuma (2007), and two films in the X-Men franchise with The Wolverine (2013) and Logan (2017), the latter of which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He then directed the sports drama film Ford v Ferrari (2019), which earned him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Picture, and directed and co-wrote Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023), the fifth and final instalment in the Indiana Jones series. For the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown (2024), Mangold was once again nominated for Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay and his first nomination for Best Director. The Bounty of Ryder: A Journey's End — Chapter I is a 2028 American Western action film written, co-produced, and directed by James Mangold (who also directed The Bounty of Ryder) and the fifth installment in The Chronicles of Charlotte Ryder film series. Produced by Legendary Pictures and The Stone Quarry and distributed by Lionsgate Films, it is the sequel to The Bounty of Ryder Part IV: Road of Redemption and the penultimate film in the franchise. The ensemble cast stars Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Charley Ryder, alongside Piper Rubio, Ben Foster, Christopher Judge, Don Johnson, Donald Glover, Antonio Banderas, Hailee Steinfeld, Asher Angel, Cameron Diaz, Kim Basinger, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ving Rhames, and Samuel L. Jackson. In the film, Charley Ryder sets out for Yellowstone with her daughter to hunt down the outlaw Calvin Stone for murdering several women and children in Cody. To succeed, she will have to seek help from her paternal family, whom she does not know well.
