Mr. Freeze, originally Dr. Victor Fries, is driven to villainy after a lab accident at GothCorp, caused by the callous actions of CEO Ferris Boyle. Fries was attempting to cure his terminally ill wife, Nora, using cryogenic technology, but Boyle shut down the project, leading to the accident. This accident not only transformed Fries into Mr. Freeze, requiring a sub-zero environment to survive, but also seemingly resulted in Nora's death. Driven by revenge and a desire to find a cure for Nora, Freeze targets Boyle, leading to a confrontation with Batman. Dr. Victor Fries was a brilliant cryogenics expert working at GothCorp, trying to save his wife Nora from a fatal disease. Ferris Boyle, GothCorp's CEO, callously terminated Fries's research, causing a lab accident that submerged Fries in cryogenic chemicals. Fries, now Mr. Freeze, seeks revenge on Boyle, targeting him and GothCorp. Batman investigates Freeze's attacks, discovering the truth about the accident and Boyle's culpability. Mr. Freeze attempts to freeze the entire GothCorp building, but Batman thwarts his plan, and eventually defeats him using a thermos of hot chicken soup from Alfred, shattering Freeze's helmet with the temperature difference. Batman exposes Boyle's actions, leaving him to face the consequences, while Mr. Freeze is incarcerated in Arkham Asylum, lamenting his loss.
