Many years ago, Gotham City lived under the rule of crime and corruption, until Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, took on the mantle of the dark vigilante and swore to fight the evil that plagued the city. The Dark Knight's saga was legendary, but not even he could fight the relentless time. After dedicating much of his life to the battle against crime, Bruce Wayne began to feel the effects of age and years of combat. One fateful day, while staking out the dark alleys of Gotham, a heart attack strikes, bringing him to the brink of death. Even though he survived the incident, Bruce's delicate health forced him to retire from his nightly activities as Batman. Now, aged 85, Bruce Wayne lives atop his tower at Wayne Manor, never relinquishing his vigil over the city. Observing Gotham through the various monitoring screens scattered throughout the environment, he stays up to date on every crime that runs rampant in the streets, even without being able to physically act to stop it. A new Batman emerges in Gotham, but unlike the young and impetuous Terry McGinnis, it is Dick Grayson, the first Robin and Bruce's faithful partner, who assumes the uniform of the Dark Knight to protect his hometown. Dick, now mature and experienced, has also been affected by the legacy of crime that plagues Gotham. Despite leaving Batman's shadow to forge his own path as Nightwing, he felt he needed to do more to save the city he loves so much.
