The Batman is a 2008 American superhero film based on the eponymous character from DC Comics. Written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, it is the first film in the DC Cinematic Universe (DCCU) and a reboot of the Batman film series. Nicolas Cage stars as Bruce Wayne/Batman, alongside Matt Long, Colin Farrell, Felicity Jones, Eva Mendes, Sam Elliott and Donal Logue. In the film, After witnessing his parents' death, billionaire Bruce Wayne learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city. The film was produced by James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios.
