Winston Duke (born 15 November 1986) is a Tobagonian actor. Duke was born in Tobago and moved to Brooklyn, New York, United States, at age nine. Duke began his career with minor roles in theatre productions and recurring roles on the CBS science fiction series Person of Interest (2014–2015) and the ABC sitcom Modern Family (2016). He rose to prominence after playing M'Baku in several films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2018–2022), which is one of the highest-grossing media franchises. He has since appeared in the horror film Us (2019), the fantasy drama Nine Days (2020), and the action-comedy films Spenser Confidential (2020) and The Fall Guy (2024). The Batman is intended to be the first of a new Batman film trilogy and establish a Batman-focused shared universe separate from the DCEU.[21][143][384] Key cast members had signed on for future films by November 2019.[385] In December 2021, Pattinson said he had ideas for developing Batman's character in further films, while Clark said The Batman would lay a foundation upon which future films would build.[386] Pattinson and Reeves expressed interest in introducing Robin and featuring the Court of Owls, Calendar Man, Mr. Freeze, or Hush as villains in a sequel.[387] A sequel was announced at CinemaCon in April 2022, with Pattinson and Reeves set to return.[388][389] Later in August, Mattson Tomlin was confirmed to be co-writing the sequel script with Reeves.[390] In January 2023, the first sequel was revealed to be titled The Batman – Part II, and is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2025,[391] with principal photography set to begin in November 2023 at Warner Bros.
