Katherine Kane is the lesbian cousin of Bruce Wayne. Once a model cadet at West Point, Kate was ultimately expelled after being accused of homosexual conduct. Kate's life spiraled out of control when she got lost into to the partying lifestyle, abusing drugs, alcohol, and one-night stands. After being cornered by a mugger and defending herself, Kate was approached by Batman at the last minute. An inspired Kate decided to train herself to becoming a crimefighter with help from her father Colonel Jacob Kane. After a couple of years, Kate became the vigilante Batwoman, and eventually joining the larger fight alongside her cousin.
